Curriculum

I am a senior researcher at the CNRS and I conduct my research within the ''Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence" (MLIA) group of the Institut des Systèmes Intelligents et de Robotique (ISIR) at Sorbonne Université. I was previously a happy member of the Spoken Language Processing Group group of LISN (formerly LIMSI) in Orsay. My recent work focuses mainly on machine translation using statistical and neural methods - and more generally on machine learning applied to multilingual language data, whether written or oral. I lead the activities of a small team composed of about ten researchers, doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows.

I am a member of the executive board of the European Meta-NET network, a member of the advisory board of the EACL, and also member of the Ellis Society. Previously, I have been general director of LIMSI/CNRS from July 2013 till december 2019, I have taught computer science at the Université Paris-Sud, now Université Paris-Saclay, and at Télécom Paris. I am the author of about forty articles in scientific journals and more than 300 papers in international conferences; I have also supervised or co-supervised more than twenty Ph.D students.

I hold a Ph.D in Computer Science and engineering degrees from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunication, Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique and Ecole Polytechnique.
